Lisa McMaster
Lisa was born in Nowra, a coastal town of New South Wales. The family moved to Narre Warren in Victoria to run a racehorse agistment property, owned by prominent veterinarian, Greg Morison. They spelled for such training greats as Angus Armanasco and Geoff Murphy. The operation expanded into breeding and stallions and moved to a larger farm at Garfield where they stood a number of stallions including multiple group 1 and Cox Plate winner, Taj Rossi.
In 1979 Lisa’s family acquired a farm at Bunyip and stood stallions including Mandana and Cardinal. Lisa rode horses from a young age, participating in pony club and progressing to dressage, competing at the Royal Melbourne Show. Lisa worked alongside her parents, assisting with all aspects of the breeding operation including foaling down of mares, matings and preparing yearlings for the sales. When Mandana was retired, the family reverted back to agisting racehorses, predominantly for Tony Vasil. The multiple Group winning Elvstroem spelled with them during his racing career.
Lisa decided to expand her knowledge and sought employment in the media, initially at a local newspaper and then at Channel 9, where she worked on various productions for a number of years. However, there was always work to be done with the horses on the weekends.
Lisa married Gavin and after they had started their family, the farm at Pakenham South was purchased and Lisa went back to what she loved the most, working with horses full time.
Gavin McMaster
Gavin's family has a long history in racing with his grandfather Lindsay Woods, a jockey, and training horses at Pakenham most of his life.
Gavin attained Trade Certificates in Panel Beating, Spray Painting, Welding and Automotive Engineering and successfully owned and operated his own automotive repair centres for many years. In 2004 he decided to have a change of lifestyle and sell his automotive business and work full time with Lisa on the farm.
Gavin's knowledge and love of horses has grown considerably in recent years and his experience with foaling down mares is invaluable.
His extensive machinery and pasture maintenance knowledge ensures paddocks are kept in top order and his eye for detail and perfectionist attitude is evident in the presentation of the property.
